ELIDA, OH (WLIO) - Food prices remain high, but for those struggling to feed their pets, there is help.
All Starr Pet Rescue and the West Ohio Food Bank teamed up to hand out free bags of cat and dog food to residents who might need a little extra help. More than 100 families came out to Friday night's distribution.
With the prices of everything still going up, All Starr Pet Rescue wants to make sure pet owners don't have to choose between feeding their families or their pets.
"It gives people a chance to keep onto their pets so they don't have to give their pets up. I mean, we're really struggling for space in the rescue, so the more that we can help out people that they can afford to have their animals and keep their animals, that's where we want them to be, is there with their families," said Michele Tvenstrup, the foster coordinator of All Starr Pet Rescue.
Over a dozen local Ford plant employees volunteered to help load and carry food bags at the distribution.
