The trial begins for an Allen County man facing multiple counts of rape of a young child.
A jury has been seated for 33-year-old Matthew Brown. He was indicted last month on nine counts of rape, seven counts of sexual battery, two counts of gross sexual imposition, and one count of attempted rape.
At the beginning of the month, Brown was offered a plea deal, that would drop over two-thirds of the charges he is facing, but he turned it down. According to the indictment, Brown had sexual contact with a child that was 12 years old at the time of the offenses in 2020. The trial is scheduled to go until Thursday.
