LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A woman who was reported missing has been found deceased.

The Lima Police Department said a utility company employee spotted a woman lying on the ground, partially covered in snow, in the 600 block of North Sugar Street on Wednesday afternoon. Officers arrived at the scene, and the Allen County coroner ordered an autopsy.

The woman was identified as 33-year-old Ayan Hersi, who had previously been reported missing to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Her body has been sent to Lucas County for an autopsy.

Hersi was last seen on surveillance video leaving a mobile home at 1800 Reservoir Road on Jan. 31.

On 2/20/2025, at about 1:10 p.m., the Lima Police Department was notified of a deceased person located in the 600 block of N. Sugar Street. A private company utility employee located the unknown black female laying in the 600 block of N. Sugar. Officers and investigators arrived at the scene to find the female, concealed off of the roadway and snow covered. The scene was processed overnight and the Allen County Coroner ordered an autopsy to performed on the female. A positive identification was made on the female. She was identified as 33 year old Ayan Abdi Hersi, who had been reported missing through the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, on 1/31/2025. Ms. Hersi was reported to have been last seen on surveillance video, leaving a mobile home at 1800 Reservoir Road, Lima, on January 31st, shortly after 12:00 p.m. Ms. Hersi’s body has been sent to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, for an autopsy. This case is under investigation.
