LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Employees from the Lima Ford Engine Plant and Reineke Family Dealerships are doing their part to help those facing food insecurity.
About 30 volunteers spent Tuesday morning at the West Ohio Food Bank, where they packed boxes for an upcoming giveaway and sorted donated food items. The effort is part of Ford’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities where employees work and live.
“Over the last couple of years, Ford has developed a really strong partnership with Feeding America and all of the Feeding America food banks, including the food bank here in Lima, and so it's a really awesome opportunity for Ford employees. We've got our partners here at the Ford local Ford dealership and the philanthropy to really come together and support the local community here in Lima,” says Eric Davis, Dir. of Social Mobility at Ford Philanthropy.
“It's extremely important to our dealerships and me, personally, we've been given so much by our community, so it's great to be able to support our community and give back,” says Suzie Reineke, Dir. of HR and Marketing, Reineke Family Dealerships.
The West Ohio Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help assemble dinners for its Christmas Eve meal giveaway. Assembly will take place on Dec. 23. Anyone interested, or any organization wanting to help, can contact the food bank at 419-222-7946 during business hours.
