LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine was in Dayton on Friday to welcome an international delegation for the opening ceremonies of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

The assembly brings together 281 parliamentarians from NATO’s 32 member countries and was established to serve as a bridge between member nations. This marks the first time the event has been held in the United States since 2003, when it took place in Florida. Gov. DeWine expressed his enthusiasm about hosting the event in the Buckeye State.

"Congressman Mike Turner really took it upon himself as a leader in this parliamentary group to bring them to Dayton. And so I'm proud of him, and proud of Dayton and proud of Ohio to be able to host them. And you know, we look forward to this, and anytime that we can show off Ohio, anytime we can show what goes on in Ohio, we're very, very proud of that," said Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.
