LOGAN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) – A company planning to develop a large solar field in Logan County has withdrawn its application.
Grange Solar Grazing Center announced its decision following the Ohio Power Siting Board’s recommendation to deny its application for a "Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need." This permit is required for major utility facilities and is granted when a project meets environmental standards and serves a public need.
The 500-megawatt project would have created a solar field and grazing space for animals on 2,500 acres in Logan County. Strong opposition from residents and community leaders ultimately led to the company's decision to end the project.
