Grateful Thankful Dinner Party treats Lima CareCore residents to food and fun

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Team Outreach Lima helped residents at CareCore celebrate the holiday season a little early with its third annual Grateful Thankful Dinner Party.

The event, held at the Lima care facility, brought music, karaoke, bingo with prizes and a full Thanksgiving meal, thanks to donations from local businesses. Volunteers from UAW Local 2075 and a DJ helped create a party atmosphere for residents who look forward to the gathering each year.

Team Outreach Lima Director Quincy Peoples said the goal is to make sure residents feel remembered during the holiday season.

“You see that. You see the smiles on their faces, man, like I say, a lot of these folks, they get forgotten about here in the nursing homes, and they hardly ever get home cooked meals. So, this is just, it's an honor to be able to do this, you know, with their help, alignment and local 2075 you know, they're on board with me on everything I do, and I appreciate you guys," said Quincy Peoples, the director of Team Outreach Lima.

CareCore staff say the residents enjoy the special celebration and look forward to it each year.

“It's absolutely wonderful. They don't get many activities. You know, this is once a year activity. So they get to come out and play bingo and get prizes and eat some wonderful fo ,” says Natalie Deyarmon, Housekeeping Director, CareCore at Lima.

“And don't forget karaoke.” Adds Peoples.

“Oh, and karaoke, all the music. Oh yea,” responds Deyarmon.

Team Outreach Lima plans to visit Shawnee Manor in December for a Christmas-themed bingo celebration.
