LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The trial is underway for a 20-year-old man facing charges related to a shooting last summer at Bill’s Drive-Thru.
Jeremiah Washington, 20, is currently charged with felonious assault and aggravated robbery. Both charges carry firearm specifications. In July 2024, Allen County deputies responded to Bill’s Drive-Thru after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a victim lying on the pavement with serious injuries. Washington allegedly fled the scene and was later arrested at the Brower Road Apartments. In court Tuesday, Washington’s defense chose not to present an opening statement. During the prosecution’s opening, attorneys said deputies found a gun, marijuana, and clothing matching the description of what Washington was seen wearing on the day of the shooting at the apartment complex where Washington was arrested.

“They find the gun which they collect. The video, the description: the red hoodie. When Jeremiah was arrested, he was not wearing a red hoodie, but that red hoodie was found in apartment 42. It was in a trash can, in a trash bag that's tied. An officer opened that trash bag. They see some food and a red hoodie. Right below that were some black shoes. They find a mask. They're grabbing anything of potential evidentiary, and they find a bag of weed,” says Joe Everhart, Assistant Prosecutor, Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
The trial is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning.
