LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks District is looking for feedback from the community.
You can provide your opinion and feedback about different aspects of the park district through their branding survey. The main topic covered in the survey is branding, like new signs and kiosks around the parks as well as the name of the parks district, which is being considered to being changed from Johnny Appleseed to Metro Parks Allen County. For the parks district, it's all about getting the feedback from the community that they serve, to better understand what they want to see from their parks department.
"The survey is really focused on the name - people's thoughts on our name currently, which is Johnny Appleseed, and then our name that is proposed, which is Metro Parks Allen County, and just trying to get some feedback on if it makes sense from a community standpoint that that people know where we are, Allen County, who we serve, and people in Allen County," said Tyler Black, executive director for JAMPD. "We're just trying to figure out if people are on board with that or not, and I think a survey does a great job at giving them that opportunity."
Black says the survey is aiming at trying to get 400 responses and the more people that take the survey, the more they can accurately judge what the community wants to keep and what it wants to change.
"We have looked at a lot of the responses so far, and it's pretty close, I'd say 50/50," added Black. "It's one of those things where we're asking your feedback for a reason, and we want to listen to your feedback and do what you say you want us to do. We're taxpayer funded, and we think it's important for people to understand like their tax money is going to something that is actually building up the community and making sense of what we're doing."
