LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Several local organizations that serve children from early childhood through adolescence received financial support Tuesday from the Lima Kiwanis Club. The club awarded checks to four non-charitable groups to help them continue their mission of supporting youth with developmental, emotional and educational needs.

All four organizations rely heavily on donations to sustain their programs and outreach. Linda Balogh, assistant to the directors of Royal Family Kids Camp, said the contribution will help them continue offering meaningful experiences to vulnerable children. “Royal Family Kids is a camp that we do for neglected and abused children and ages seven to 11, and we just give them positive memories by showing them good role models having fun and creating positive memories.”

Molly Daffner, director of regional services for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, said the donation helps expand access to their in-school programming. “We also do in school Girl Scouting so that we have staff who goes out and they run in school troops, that girls who may not be able to participate in a traditional troop can still get that Girl Scout experience and gain those skills.”

The organizations receiving funds included Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Children’s Developmental Center and Royal Family Kids Camp.
