LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — This weekend, visitors can step back in time for a realistic look at life during World War II — both on the home front and the battlefield.

Lauer Farms 1944 works to preserve the history of the Greatest Generation through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and battle reenactments.

The event, which began in 2019, features many authentic 1940s military vehicles and equipment. Organizers say their goal is to help people experience a living history that might otherwise fade with time.

“We have 350 plus reenactors coming out from 27 states and two countries. You can see the battle reenactments. You can see our speaker series, which is a huge hit. Our fashion show is always popular, I believe that is at 1:30 on Saturday and Sunday. You can find out all sorts of stuff about us online. The big thing Saturday night is we are going to the old barn out back for a night of dancing and foo,” says Matt Martini, Lauer Farms 1944.

Lauer Farms 1944 will be held at the Lauer Farm Park at 800 Roush Road in Lima. Admission is free. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with battle reenactments scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, with battles at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
