LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – It’s been around three years in the making, but by the end of August, residents will finally be able to dip their toes into Lima’s new pool.

City officials announced that the Lima Community Aquatic Center will celebrate its grand opening at 9 a.m. on Aug. 30th. The project was funded by contributions from the state, city, Lima City Schools and other community donations.

The new indoor and outdoor facility features an eight-lane competition pool and a family activity pool with a waterslide, tower and more. Officials say the project has been a labor of love—and while other area pools will be closing for the season, the Lima Aquatic Park will be just getting started.

“When the other pools are closing, we will have limited opening on the outside activity pool still as long as the weather permits. So, we're excited about that. So, we're staying open, and we are a year round facility. We have the indoor the retractable roof that we can open and close. So, we're really excited. We got that 20-foot body slide for people to enjoy, and the buckets, the splash pad, the activities and a party room for birthday parties or other events that people want to have. So we invited the community and the folks to come out and visit us,” says Amy Harpster, Lima’s Public Works Director.
