LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima families gathered for a day of fun, food, and quality time during a special event hosted by the Platinum Plus Outreach Program, designed to strengthen bonds between children and their fathers.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including giant tic-tac-toe, sand art, and what organizers called the largest water balloon fight in Lima. Organizers say the goal is to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy meaningful time together while honoring the role fathers play in their children’s lives.
"This is an opportunity for the men of the community to be able to just show that we're here and we support our community, and we are fathers here, and we do do our due diligence. Sometimes we get overlooked or whatnot. So I just wanted to basically put together something to bring spotlight to that, showcase it, and give back to the community also, while also providing opportunity and a venue for fathers to spend time with their children," said Tony Ridley, organizer of the event.
Organizers hope to expand the event to other states and plan to bring it back to Lima annually.
