LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – It can take you around the world and beyond, and it’s no bigger than a credit card. It’s a library card, and it’s free at your local library.
September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and officials say now is the perfect time to take advantage of the resources a card provides.
Libraries today offer more than just books and magazines. With the help of technology, patrons can access music, movies, art, online resources, meeting rooms, and programs — all for free with a library card.
“We are the books, the nonfiction, the fiction, but we're music, we're DVDs, we're art, we're online access, we're meeting rooms, we're programming,” said Liz Smith, Head of Public Relations for the Lima Public Library. “We're a place to come and be safe or cool off. We're more than just the books these days.”
To sign up, visit your local library with a form of identification. In celebration of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, each Lima Public Library location will raffle off a $25 Amazon gift card and a basket of library-themed goodies.
