LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A police officer and several other people were shot in Lima late Friday night.

The City of Lima reported that an LPD officer made a traffic stop near St. Johns Avenue and 2nd Street around 10:45 PM. During the traffic stop, several shots were fired from the driver's vehicle and a gunfight followed.

The officer and multiple people inside the stopped vehicle received injuries. Everyone injured was transported for medical treatment and there are no fatalities reported at this time.

LIMA, Ohio - At approximately 10:44 p.m., a Lima Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of St. John’s Avenue and Second Street. During the encounter, shots were fired from the stopped vehicle, and a gunfight ensued.

As a result, one Lima Police officer and multiple occupants of the vehicle sustained gunshot injuries. All injured individuals were transported for medical treatment. At this time, no fatalities have been reported. The incident remains under active investigation. Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses and after notification of the individuals’ families.

The City of Lima and the Lima Police Department ask for patience and respect for the privacy of those involved as this situation continues to unfold.
