LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - It’s hard to believe spring is less than two months away, considering the weather we’ve been having.
But now is the time for avid gardeners to start thinking about starting plants from seed indoors. The Lima Public Library, located at 650 W Market St, Lima, OH 45801, hosted its annual “Seed Swap” event to promote gardening. Participants were able to drop off seeds and take a few to prepare for the upcoming planting season.
“I think it’s a fabulous idea. I like to dabble in growing many different things—it’s just something that I’ve always done,” said Cristine Williamson, an avid gardener. “Having a seed library would be wonderful so I can get seeds from all the plants here locally. I was hoping to meet some fellow growers here today, but perhaps I will when the seed library opens up.”
The seed library will begin the Tuesday after Presidents Day. Visitors can choose a card listing the seeds they’d like at one of the library’s desks and pick up the seeds a few days later. A library card is not required to participate.
