LIMA, OH (WLIO) – A Lima-based family business is celebrating a major milestone. International Tank Service is marking 50 years in operation.
Company President Butch Kirk spoke to members of the Lima Rotary Club about the company’s growth over the last half-century.
After graduating college in 1975 without a job, Kirk decided to restart a sandblasting and painting business that his grandfather and father had closed in the 1960s. The company soon shifted its focus to industrial tank work, eventually expanding into repair services and full tank construction. Their projects range in size from 50,000 to 6 million gallons.
International Tank Service, often abbreviated as I-T-S, has completed work in 41 states and Canada. They are approaching the milestone of building their 1,000th tank.

Company President Butch Kirk spoke to members of the Lima Rotary Club about the company’s growth over the last half-century.
Kirk attributes the company’s success to a strong work ethic and values.
“Hard work, hard work. We believe in running our business on Christian principles, and try to believe in doing the Do unto others as others do unto you, so the golden rule so. But we're blessed, and we have about 65 employees in the office, the fab shop, in the field,” says Butch Kirk, Pres. of International Tank Service.
In addition to Kirk’s remarks, the Lima Rotary Club awarded nine $1,000 scholarships to non-traditional students. Over the past 25 years, the club has awarded nearly 1,300 scholarships to Allen County residents attending Allen County schools.
