LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Sophomores at Lima Senior High School are getting the chance to take a "career option" for a test drive as part of an opportunity to explore future career paths.

Lima City Schools offers its own "in-house" career tech programs, available to juniors and seniors. The school offers 12 programs, including culinary and food service management, construction trades, agriculture, and outdoor occupations, among other career options.

Sophomores had the chance to meet with instructors and current students to learn more about the programs. Engineering technology students explained that the program offers more than just electrical systems education.

"We also have coding robots, 3D printers, milling machines. It's a very versatile class, and it gives a lot of opportunities for going into college," said Taylor Keling, a senior in the engineering technology program.

"In ag, you do everything. You do welding, woodworking, agriculture, which encompasses everything from raising animals to growing your own plants. It’s a good opportunity, and it's kind of a jack-of-all-trades class. You get to learn everything," said Isaac Richard, a junior in agriculture and outdoor occupations.

It wasn’t all business at the Career Tech Expo. The audio engineering class provided an impromptu dance party for students and staff.
