LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - It was a packed house at the Crouse Performance Hall as the sounds of music filled the air.

The yearly Young People's Concert welcomed in 3,500 students from 45 local school districts. The Lima Symphony Orchestra tunes up to welcome in the enthusiastic crowd, in what is often described as a fun kind of controlled chaos.

This year's theme is Tune Into Nature, with maestro Andrew Crust showing how the instruments mimic the sounds we hear outside everyday. For the orchestra, it's a great chance to get back into the musical swing of things and kick off the season, and for many of the kids, it's their first chance to hear orchestral music, hopefully sparking a love of the classics for the rest of their lives.

"Symphonic music is really the base of a lot of music traditions, and so they're going to hear things that they recognize," said Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, executive director of the Lima Symphony Orchestra. "They're going to hear rhythms and beats and tempos that they're that they're familiar with, and they're going to hear music that they've heard before in commercials. They're going to realize that this is really something that is familiar. This is something that is very relatable, and hopefully it's something they'll come back to in their lives later on."
