LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Young Professionals are learning about leadership and professional development while getting an inside look at one of the area's largest health care systems.

Members of the Lima Young Professionals group took part in Wednesday's event at Lima Memorial Health System.

The group, which operates through the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce, brings together business professionals ages 40 and younger for monthly development and networking events.

Lima Young Professionals tour Lima Memorial, learn about leadership

Members of the Lima Young Professionals group took part in Wednesday's event at Lima Memorial Health System.

During the visit, members heard from hospital leaders about their careers, leadership experiences and ways to find opportunities for professional growth. They also toured Lima Memorial's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center and Cardiac Care Floor.

"For us, we're investing in our community and so I love seeing the large group of young professionals who have come here to not only learn about their local healthcare system, but also learn ways that they can develop themselves, whether it be in their current role or as they're looking to progress within their company, or to have a broader reach within our community," said Lynn Carpenter, president and CEO at Lima Memorial Health System.

"The main goal is just for everyone to network together, grow themselves, build contacts from different companies and industries, that way they can help you if you would ever need something from them. You get to know each other and put your companies out there as well. It's a good marketing opportunity for all of our companies," said Lauren Lammers, an HR specialist at Lima Memorial and a member of Lima Young Professionals.

The group hosts professional development and social events, as well as volunteer opportunities, each month.
