LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Fresh-cut Christmas trees are making a comeback this holiday season as local tree lots report increased sales and foot traffic. While artificial trees remain the top choice for more than 80% of households, some families are returning to natural trees, possibly influenced by tariffs on imported artificial trees.

Local seasonal retailers say the demand for fresh-cut trees is higher than in previous years. Clark Spieles of Blooms at Spieles Nurseries said, “We are observing this year record sales. We've been selling Christmas trees now for 35 years, and this by far exceeds any numbers that we've ever sold.”

Robert Reynolds of White Cottage added, “We've been kind of busy, I guess, a little bit more busy than normal, early, like right after Thanksgiving. We were kind of, the Friday after Thanksgiving, we were really busy.”

Both retailers carry Frazier firs and recommend shoppers purchase their trees soon, as selection is already becoming limited.
