SPRING VOLUNTEER OVERVIEW
On Thurs., March 6 at 6:00 p.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED PARK DISTRICT will offer a SPRING VOLUNTEER OVERVIEW informational session at the PARK OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM (1682 Slabtown Rd., Lima, OH.)
Please join us to learn about volunteering at the park. This session will be held to provide an overview of opportunities during the spring and summer months in our Nature Education Dept., Natural Resources Dept., and more! Following the overview, we help new volunteers get set up with our volunteer portal. First-time and long-time volunteers are welcome!

NATURE PALS: REMARKABLE RACCOONS
THE JOHNNY APPLESEED METROPOLITAN PARK DISTRICT will offer NATURE PALS: REMARKABLE RACCOONS at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (2355 Ada Rd., Lima, OH) on the following dates:
- Thurs., March 6 at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm
- Fri., March 7 at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm
- Sat., March 8 at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm
Children 3-5 along with an adult companion are invited to come learn all about the mischievous mammals known at raccoons!

JOGGING WITH JOHNNY
On Mon., March 10 at 5:00 p.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED METROPOLITAN PARK DISTRICT will offer JOGGING WITH JOHNNY at OTTAWA METRO PARK (2632 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).
Jumpstart your joints and spring into fitness with a Johnny Appleseed Acountabili-buddy! Join Naturalist Lindsey for a warm-up walk and a few easy laps. All ages and abilities are welcome! Choose a pace that is comfortable for you. Dress for the weather and come out rain or shine!.

WHAT’S THE RUSH
On Thurs., March 13 at 6:00 p.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED METROPOLITAN PARK DISTRICT will host WHAT’S THE RUSH at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (2355 Ada Rd., Lima OH.)
Dr. Doug Tallamay, a well-respected author and professor, presents a science-based solution to the biodiversity crisis and explains why it’s so urgent. Dr. Tallamay is the co-founder of Homegrown National park, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and urgently inspiring everyone to add native plants and remove invasive ones where we live, work, learn, pray, and play. We’ll watch the 50 min. recording (popcorn provided!), followed by a Q&A with a naturalist.

KILLDEER PLAINS FIELD TRIP
On Sat., March 15 at 9:00 a.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED METROPOLITAN PARK DISTRICT and the TRI-MORAINE AUDUBON SOCIETY will take a FIELD TRIP TO KILLDEER PLAINS. Participants will meet at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (2355 Ada Rd., Lima OH).
Join us as we explore some of the 8,000+ acres of wetlands, prairies, and woodlots of Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area as we look for waterfowl and much more! We’ll do some walking, but we will mostly be driving between points of interest. Prepare for the weather and pack a lunch/snack/beverages. A limited number of binoculars and field guides will be provided. A caravan will depart at 9 a.m. from the McElroy Environmental Education Center. We will meet at the KILLDEER UPGROUND RESERVOIR at 10:00 a.m.
