LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – McDonald's of Ohio is helping local children start the school year with the supplies they need.
On Friday, the company delivered boxes from its three-week school supply drive to Allen County Children Services. Collection boxes were placed at 12 local McDonald’s restaurants, Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships, Hometown Stations, and Children Services. The donated items will be distributed to the children served by the agency as they prepare to return to school over the next few weeks.
“It has been really fortunate that McDonald's has put this on the last couple of years. It allows us to make sure that kinship caregivers, foster caregivers, all children that we're working with, that our caseworkers can go out and make sure that they have what is needed and it's just so necessary for the kids, especially the ones we're working with, to have this to start their education this year,” said Sarah Newland, executive director of Allen County Children Services.
After making their donations, participants didn’t leave empty-handed. McDonald’s gave out coupons for free Egg McMuffins or McCrispy strips.
