LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center unveiled its new Women's Health Center on Wednesday, with doors set to open next month.

The practice is dedicated to women’s health, to help guide them through hormonal changes through different stages of life.

Mercy Health officials say the center was designed after gathering feedback from women in the community who said they wanted more specialized care, particularly for menopause, mood changes and weight management.

The facility will offer services like perimenopause and menopause treatment, hormone imbalance care, nutrition support, and massage and stretch therapy, with no referral required.

Mercy Health officials say the center was designed after gathering feedback from women in the community who said they wanted more specialized care.

Medical experts say women going through these transitions are often overlooked in traditional health care settings.

“Family practitioners don't get a lot of training in medical school on menopause, that stage of life. I feel a lot of women are told, this is just how it is. This is how you're going to feel. But I think it's very important, 100% of women will go through menopause, and that will last the last third of their entire lifetime,” said Joyce Bochenek, director of weight management and women’s health services at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

The facility is scheduled to open March 9.
