COLUMBUS, OHIO (WLIO) — Ohio lawmakers will decide whether to increase registration and title fees to help fund the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Gov. Mike DeWine’s proposed budget includes a $10 increase in registration fees, which would nearly double the fee for personal vehicles from $11 to $21 and significantly raise the fee for other vehicles.

A proposed $3 increase in title fees would move the cost from $12 to $15. This change could generate an additional $140 million for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
