COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — As a winter storm moved into Ohio, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers that bridges, overpasses and other elevated surfaces freeze faster than roadways.

Earlier this week in Belmont County, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was already on the scene of a crash when two more were captured on the trooper’s dashcam video. The first involved a semi that slid out of control. Just moments later, an SUV lost control and crossed the median into the opposite lane of traffic. The semi driver was not injured. Four people in the SUV suffered minor injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to slow down, increase following distance and remain alert to rapidly changing road conditions as winter weather continues to move across the state.
