LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Ohio State Lima students with military connections now have an advocate to help them access programs and opportunities available on campus.
Malachi Talbert, a sophomore biology student, was recently named the Major Lawrence Miller Military Community Advocate for the Lima campus. He hopes to raise awareness for military-connected students, including active duty service members, reservists, veterans, and their dependents.
Talbert says many students in this group don’t realize the size of the military-connected community on campus or the range of opportunities available to them.

Talbert will hold office hours for military-connected students Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m. at the Ohio State Lima Military and Veterans Lounge in Galvin Hall 134.
“The biggest thing people don't realize is kind of the opportunities that military-connected students really have. Oftentimes, I know even myself, I didn't even know about this last year. So even to find out about it this year, and to find out about some of the opportunities, some of the scholarships that are out there, it's kind of a big deal. So, I feel like getting the military community involved in getting us knowledgeable on these topics,” Talbert said.
