LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Ohio State Lima welcomed its new students Monday and encouraged them to take advantage of the full college experience.
During the opening convocation, university officials talked about starting the next chapter of students’ lives as they pursue degrees that could lead to their dream jobs.
Overall enrollment is up this year, with the incoming class at the Lima campus nearly 20% larger than last year.
Third-year student Malachi Talbert spoke to the new students about making the most of their experience as an Ohio State Buckeye.
“Yeah, the biggest advice I would give to any student who's coming in to Ohio State Lima is just to lean into the experience. Um immerse yourself in campus and you're definitely going to find, you know, you're going to maximize all the enjoyment out of it. That's how you get the most out of everything. It's just be willing, be open, and have an open mind,” says Malachi Talbert, 3rd year student at Ohio State Lima.
University officials also highlighted the opportunities available to students beyond the classroom.
“In addition to the 12 majors students can complete here, there are so many clubs and organizations. There's undergraduate research. There is on-campus jobs. There's so much that students can take full advantage of in addition to just being part of Buckeye Nation," says Dr. Maggie Young, Dean, The Ohio State University at Lima.
Ohio State Lima students will return to the classroom Tuesday.
