PERRY TWP, ALLEN CO. (WLIO) – Perry students went down on the farm, and they didn’t have to leave their parking lot. This is the second year Emma Lehman has organized an Ag Day at Perry School.
Elementary, middle, and high school students had the opportunity to pet horses, goats, and a calf. They also got to check out tools of the trade, like tractors and a planter. Lehman wants her fellow Commodores to learn more about the agriculture industry, farm life, and where their food comes from.
“I wanted the kids to have a chance to be able to experience animals in the farm world and how farm to table and try to get FFA into our school,” says Emma Lehman, sophomore at Perry High School.

Agriculture incorporates many subjects that students learn in the classroom, and it’s a career path that many Perry students are passionate about. As a result, the school district is ready to take that learning to the next level.
“We're excited to announce that we're partnering with Apollo Career Center next year to bring an agribusiness career pathway to Perry High School, and that would just prepare our students for the job market around us, and again, fit into their skill set and what they're passionate about,” says Tyler Turner, principal at Perry High School.

Lehman says she is looking forward to keeping the Ag Day tradition going for years to come.
