LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Around 60 superheroes were spotted across Lima on Tuesday. While they didn’t wear capes, they lent an arm to help others in need of blood.
The American Red Cross hosted a Superhero Blood Drive at the Allen County Chapter House, encouraging donors to give the gift of life. Each donor received a T-shirt to promote the cause and inspire others to donate.
There is a constant need for blood across the United States, and just 30 minutes of a donor’s time could improve — or even save — multiple lives.
“One donation can save up to three lives, and that's very important. So one person can save up to three lives. So if we have 50 people in that's a lot of lives to save. We need more heroes donating all the time. Every two seconds, somebody needs blood, and the constant need of that. So the more people we get, the more we can answer the call to get all those people to donate so we can fill the needs,” said Ashton Castle, donor recruitment/account manager.
