LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Spencerville man is running for Allen County commissioner.
Lew Modic has filed a petition to run for the seat. Modic, a Democrat, is running unopposed in the May 5 primary and will face current Commissioner Brian Winegardner, a Republican from Harrod, in the general election.
Modic is the managing director of the West Central Ohio Manufacturing Partnership and says his work in workforce development shapes his approach to public service. He also says his approach to the office is less about party politics and more about working across the county to get results.
“My focus is not left or right, up or down. It's basically be a problem solver, work collaboratively, try to get our city, our townships and also our county pull in the same direction, along with the other services we have.”
Modic adds that the commissioner’s job is managing the budget, attracting jobs and improving infrastructure, and he believes his private-sector background gives him a different perspective than the current board.
