LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – With warmer weather arriving, people are starting their early spring cleaning, and the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District is asking residents to help keep the environment clean.
The district encourages people to pick up trash in their yards and gutters and dispose of it properly. Left unchecked, litter and pollutants can travel through storm drains into local waterways and eventually reach the Atlantic Ocean.
Lydia Archambo of the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District said, “We provide you bags. We provide you grabbers. We provide you vests, road signs, hand sanitizer, gloves, all the good stuff, so that you can safely pick up all that trash and get it out of our environment.”
With the annual Ottawa River Clean Up now held in the fall, the district hopes families, groups, organizations, and individuals will participate in the Adopt-A-Roadway program. Residents can contact the district at 419-222-0846 for more information.
