LIMA, OH (WLIO) — The United Way of Greater Lima is celebrating the start of a new fundraising campaign. The organization raised $1.2 million to support 42 different programs in the area.

During the campaign kickoff breakfast, they honored the nonprofits, individuals, and corporations that helped support the campaign and the organization.

Kurt Neeper and his family are chairs for the new campaign. The United Way has set a goal of raising $1.8 million. If they reach it, that will help them cross a milestone for total giving for the agency.

“Since 1918 United Way has put $98 million into the Allen County community. So we want to get the 100 million dollar mark. And we start the campaign with our corporate sponsors, and they have payroll deductions with their employees. They're very, very supportive. Small businesses get involved. Individuals get involved. And this year we're going to get the schools involved. So, we're real excited to see everybody come together and try and hit that 100 million dollar mark this year," said Erin Hardesty, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Lima.
