LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The United Way of Greater Lima has opened bidding for its third annual online auction, featuring more than 70 items. This year’s auction runs for just one week, giving participants a limited window to place bids.
Items up for auction include gift cards and products from local retailers, a country concert experience package, a golf resort vacation, and tickets to see the Buckeyes, Browns, and Notre Dame football games. Food and entertainment experiences are also available, such as the Venturella family cooking an authentic Italian meal or an evening at Westgate for axe throwing, bowling, and pizza.
“There is something in everyone’s price range up for auction,” said Beca Sheidler, COO of United Way of Greater Lima. “We really do have great community support. This is our third annual auction. Every year, it just gets bigger and better. And really the goal this year is to hit the $100 million mark. So every dollar raised here stays here. So, people can donate something small, they can donate large. We just really want to hit that $100 million mark to cap off the 2025 campaign.”
Local banks have also decorated Christmas trees for the auction. “We also have some local banks that decorate a Christmas tree every year, and it kind of becomes a fun competition, and they set them up in their lobby so you can go in and kind of take a look at the tree before you bid on it. They've done a beautiful, outstanding job this year. So we really encourage everybody to go take a look at those,” Sheidler added.
The online auction closes at 10 p.m. on Nov. 17. To view and bid on items, visit www.unitedwaylima.org and click on the online auction tab.
