LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A family bingo night was held on Wednesday night at Unity Elementary.
This bingo night was only available to classrooms at Unity who worked together. Each classroom had to make a big valentine's box as a team for a chance of winning a bingo night with their family. This bingo night would have pizza, prizes, and music. The judges, as well as the hosts of the event, Team Outreach Lima, could not simply choose winners, so they came up with a new plan.
"These lovely people came in and judged, and they were going to choose three classes, and when they came in to give three prizes, they decided the whole school would be invited, along with families," says Tricia Winkler, principal of Unity Elementary School.
One of the members of Team Outreach Lima, Quincy Peoples, explains why the lead up to this event was important.
"This is important, this event, you know, it's supposed to have the class work together as a team. No fighting, just everybody collaborated. And they came up with some amazing boxes, just giving back to the kids. And they're playing bingo, and they're eating pizza, so it was just something to give back to them," says Quincy Peoples, director of Team Outreach Lima.
He also adds that Team Outreach will be hosting an Easter egg hunt when the holiday approaches. For more details, check out their Facebook page.
