LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Habitat for Humanity Lima and the University of Northwestern Ohio baseball team joined forces to rehab a Lima home that was in desperate need of repairs.
The homeowner had medical issues a couple of years ago and had to leave her home. While she was gone, there was water damage and other issues that occurred in the house. Habitat began work on the home to prepare it for her return and enlisted the help of the baseball team to assist with drywall and yard work. The Racers were glad to help someone in need.

“We've been trying to spread like Christianity and religion and God through our team. And I think doing this as a whole is really, really bringing us together as as one big group and not just individuals. I mean, I'm 23 years old, so I feel like I can get back to the community a little bit more, especially through faith. Faith is a huge part of my life. God's the one,” says Zach Cabell, 6th-year senior, UNOH Baseball Team.
“Having the support from the community around here, especially uno H baseball team and other areas. It's just great to see the community coming out and helping seeing the way that they care about others, and showing that humanity and helping each other out,” says John Long, Construction Manager, Habitat for Humanity Lima.
Habitat is also looking at the possibility of building a home for a family next year.
