UPDATE FROM THE LIMA POLICE DEPARTMENT JULY 28, 2025:

LIMA, OH (WLIO) – An argument led to a shooting Sunday evening in the 400 block of East Pearl Street.

Lima police are investigating the incident, which happened around 5:30 p.m.

John Martin, 65 was shot in the leg and was taken to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s where he is currently in stable condition.

Detectives said Martin was arguing with Anthony Davis, 45, when Davis allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Martin.

Davis is in the Allen County jail and being held on the charges of suspicion of felonious assault and weapons under disability charges.

The incident remains under investigation.

On Sunday, July 27th, 2025, at about 5:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of E. Pearl Street, in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, they discovered that a neighborhood dispute resulted in 65 year-old John Martin, of Lima, getting shot in the lower leg.  Further investigation revealed that 45 year-old Anthony Davis, also of Lima, and John Martin became involved in a verbal dispute.  During the argument, Anthony Davis brandished a handgun and shot John Martin.  Mr. Martin was transported to Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, for medical treatment, where he is currently in stable condition.  Patrol officers quickly located and arrested Anthony Davis.  Mr. Davis was transported to the Allen County Jail and held on suspicion of felonious assault and suspicion of having weapons while under disability.  The incident is still under investigation.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Sunday afternoon on the city’s east side.

The incident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Pearl St. According to scanner traffic, there was allegedly one person with a gunshot wound, and the individual was taken to the hospital for treatment. It is unknown how serious the injuries are.
