Youth for Christ encourages community to rally around local students

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local ministry is asking the community to join them in supporting area youth. Youth for Christ of Northwest Ohio will be holding their second annual “We Believe in Youth” week.

The organization is encouraging other churches and local groups to participate in sending the message to youth that they are valued and loved, and that people believe in their future.

Shelley Ferguson, director of Lima City Life Rally Point, said, “When you have kids out there who are thinking they're all in this by themselves, they don't have anybody in their court to back them up. They're lonely, they're afraid. They do not have that foundational support. So it's very important that kids know that, hey, we are rallying around you as a community. You can lean on us for support, and we are there to love you and to support you in the things that you need.”

Ways the community can support youth include praying for students and their peers, telling a student why you believe in them—either in person, in an affirmation note, or via video—and donating to Youth for Christ at wbiynwoh.org to help continue their mission of supporting area youth.
