It's no laughing matter and a local comic book store is making sure people are aware of this chronic disease.
Alter Ego Comics is teaming up with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at this year's Free Comic Book Day. Owner Marc Bowker's mother has been living with the disease for the last five years and he is dedicating this year's event to her.
"It's been a struggle for my family and for me to see the effects of this disease so I wanted to bring some awareness to Parkinson's but also do some fundraising as well," said Bowker.
If you make a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research you will receive two bonus comic books and free admission to an after party at Vino Bellissimo.
Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
