Marshmallows took flight as Apollo's Career Camp wrapped up earlier Wednesday.
6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students competed in a marshmallow catapulting contest which included a distance and accuracy portion. They were given an hour to craft, test, and adjust their catapults before the competition began. During the competition, the students were given 3 tries and were scored on their best attempt.
"We're really trying to expose these guys to the science and math side of things with this contest and just show them that even a simple marshmallow catapult has some more broad you know, math, science, and engineering kind of relation to it," explained Mike Dicke, robotics and CNC technology instructor.
Students also did other events like making lemon meringue pie from scratch.
