WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - Students at Wapakoneta Schools had the opportunity to travel the world, within their own library.Â
Within the middle school, Wapak students traveled culture to culture through what was dubbed, "Book Tasting". By traveling to different stations, each student would read a book within that genre, then pass it on to their peers. Not only was there book tasting stations, but a museum with various artifacts borrowed from locals within the district. This included an array of table displays that portrayed different cultures. Through experimenting with new cultures, students were able to discover a new genre to their liking.Â
"So that way, it gets them out of what they're normally reading. They might find something else that they didn't even know they enjoyed. So, this gives them that opportunity to taste something different," states Marty Eaton, Librarian of Wapakoneta Middle School.Â
Each student received a souvenir to take home, as well as a core memory to cherish forever.Â
Eaton thanked everyone who helped make the event possible, including Wapak VFW Post 8445, the Women’s Civic League, the Wapak Classified Association, the Middle School PTO, cafeteria and maintenance staff, Casey’s Grant, and presenter Greg Douglass.
