“It makes us feel very, very good that we have participation and community support the way that we do,” says Leandra Johnson of Fresh n’ Faded.

“You know it’s the look on the kids faces when they come out the game truck that’s sponsored. Everything that we do at Fresh n’ Faded, we could not do this without the city of Lima. City of Lima makes Fresh n’ Faded, makes Team Outreach. Teamwork makes the dream work,” adds Quincy Peoples, Team Outreach Lima.

Central State University transfer Khalil Luster is adding to that dream by giving away free shoes to kids.

For a second year, Central State University transfer Khalil Luster is adding to that dream by giving away free shoes to kids. The Lima Senior grad had nearly 200 pairs of shoes, which was more than last year. So, kids can start school off on the right foot. Luster learned growing up the importance of giving back to his community.

"Honestly, I never really struggled with having anything. But I had friends that struggled having stuff. So, just being able to give back—you know, just giving back to people in a great way—is just a good thing. But it’s something that I have been doing my whole life, even with my friends growing up. It was kind of a natural thing to do,” says Khalil Luster.

And to help get those shoes broken in, Fresh n’ Faded hosted the first ever “Sneaker Tweeter” after party at the Bradfield Center with food, music, and door prizes.
