An iconic barn in Allen County is set to get a makeover.
If you have traveled east out of town on State Route 81, you have seen the "Bicentennial" located at the Allen County Farm Park. The structure is part of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. The barn dates back to the early to mid-1900s and was originally a dairy barn. The park district is going to be renovating the barn over the winter with most of the work being done in house with park staff. Director of JAMPD, Kevin Haver says the project will be complete by the apple festival in the fall of 2018.
The bicentennial mural will be painted over with a new mural welcoming people to Lima-Allen County.
