ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A drainage project that has been in the works for nearly 20 years is one step closer to completion.
Today(11/16/23), Allen County Commissioners awarded the tile work for the Baughman petitioned ditch project to Beaverdam Contracting. The wetlands are completed with three basins that are designed to bring relief in heavy rain events.
"The subdivision has experienced flooding issues over the past. The wetlands themselves, we've created the low areas for the water to sit in there and now the tile will help drain those wetlands and get it them to the ditch and bring some relief to that watershed and those subdivisions," explained Joe Gearing, Allen County drainage engineer.
The tile project will be constructed through the winter months with completion scheduled for the end of May 2024.
