Be Seen With Green in support of Mental Health

The need for mental health services is growing as more individuals are seeing early symptoms of mental illness.

The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties is working to meet those needs. They are also asking the community to help by understanding, supporting, and encouraging each other. One in five people will suffer with a major mental illness disorder and the pandemic has increased the number of people feeling anxious and depressed.

Tammie Colon, Executive Director of Mental Health and Recovery Services says, “Folks are presenting to the emergency room about 35% greater for behavioral health and substance use conditions than they have previously. We also know that across the nation, anxiety and depression are being reported by people and has increased significantly.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the public is being encouraged to “Be Seen With Green” in support. You’re asked to wear green the Week of May 9th through the 15th and share your pictures on the “Be Seen with Green” Facebook page.
