An Ohio senator continues to fight against unfair trade practices by countries like China.
Senator Sherrod Brown says that his and Senator Rob Portman’s “Leveling the Playing Field 2.0” is close to becoming law. Brown says the bill will update and continue to strengthen trade laws to make sure they are effective tools to fight back against unfair trade practices, which in turn, will protect American workers.
“We know that China will keep cheating, and we need to stay one step ahead of the Sheriff so that they don’t continue to steal our jobs,” says Brown. “We know that because of bad trade agreements and bad tax law, generally lobbied for by corporate America that NAFTA and (permanent normal trade relations) PNTR with China, all of this cost American jobs. It is the reason the supply chain is strung out all over the world.”
The house recently passed their version of the bill which was part of the COMPETES Act of 2022.
