A project that aims to revitalize a part of downtown Lima received a major boost.
JobsOhio awarded the Central District a vibrant grant worth $1.2 million to bring its district a big step closer.
"I think the future of Lima is going to be very bright," said J.P. Nauseff, President & CEO of JobsOhio.
The Central District aims to bring workspaces, flats, creative studios, makerspace, shops, a dog park, and more to the downtown area.
"But it's really what other investors here in the local area are investing, over three million additional dollars to break ground on phase one of a four-phase plan to revitalize, rejuvenate downtown Lima," said Nauseff.
And the project's vision was backed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
"This is something that the community has done," said DeWine. "The community has come together, the community has had the vision... they said 'Look, we need to improve our downtown, this is how we see the downtown.' And if you look at the renderings, if you look at some of these pictures, very very exciting for Lima, very exciting for Allen County."
DeWine also states that he hopes the dedication of revitalization reaches other areas in the state of Ohio.
"A community like Lima comes together and really revitalizes its downtown, that's inspiration for other communities to do it as well."
