A Van Wert County man pleads guilty to the shooting death of Christopher McMillen. Chad Phillips plead guilty to one count of aggravated murder in Van Wert Common Pleas Court this afternoon.
As part of the deal, the gun specification on the aggravated murder charge and the other charges of aggravated burglary and felonious assault were dropped. Phillips will be sentenced on December 15th, he could face a maximum of life in prison without parole and a minimum of a chance of parole after 20 years.
Phillips admitted he shot Christopher McMillen in a Van Wert apartment complex this past May. McMillen died from the multiple gunshot wounds.
Phillips was scheduled to start his trial next week.
