LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As many business owners know, recruiting, hiring and retaining employees is becoming more of a science.
Area business leaders recently learned about the “Talent Tool Box” approach to hiring during the monthly Wake, Rattle and Roll networking event hosted by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.
Representatives from OhioMeansJobs Allen County shared strategies they have found to be effective in helping employers find and keep the right employees. One of the tools highlighted was the AcuMax Index employee assessment program.
The assessment is designed to shed light on how a person is “wired” and identify basic, unchanging characteristics they were born with — such as how they handle pressure, make decisions or deal with risk. OhioMeansJobs uses the tool with individuals seeking employment to help determine the right fit, and officials say it is also beneficial for employers.
“Helps with retention rates for our employers too, so they can make the correct hire, so that we have somebody who is going to be there for the long haul and more fulfilled in that position,” said Zach Ellsworth, recruitment coordinator for OhioMeansJobs Allen County.
“And we're always looking to just grow our local workforce. A lot of things that we have to offer them are completely free services. And again, we're always aiming to support our local businesses,” said Trent Wise, business services manager for OhioMeansJobs Allen County.
Wake, Rattle and Roll is a monthly networking event organized by the Chamber to connect business leaders and feature a different speaker each month. Those interested in learning more can contact the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.
