OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) — Western Buckeye League rivals met once again in a Division IV sectional final at the Supreme Court, and Ottawa-Glandorf completed the season sweep with a 58-49 victory over St. Marys.
O-G won the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 23 by a 57-31 margin, used a strong start and hot shooting from beyond the arc to secure the postseason win.
Ottawa-Glandorf set the tone early. Senior Brayton Heitmeyer connected from 3-point range to give the Titans an early four-point advantage.
St. Marys answered with crisp ball movement, leading to a layup inside by senior Blake Dindledine to keep the Roughriders within striking distance.
The Titans continued to find success from long distance. Senior Brody Fortman knocked down a 3-pointer after finding space behind the arc, and Landon Pester added another from straightaway as Ottawa-Glandorf built momentum.
Fueled by its perimeter shooting, Ottawa-Glandorf took a 30-15 lead into halftime.
St. Marys rallied in the second half, cutting into the deficit and making the contest competitive down the stretch. However, the Titans maintained control and closed out the 58-49 win.
